This charming Holiday Mews House is beautifully situated on the tow path of the River Dordogne and enjoys stunning views from the garden and pool

La Poste Mews is a charming, family friendly house, located in the centre of the quiet village of Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of the Dordogne. The village of Mauzac is full of character and history and its past is closely entwined with that of the River Dordogne, which flows through the heart of the village. Mauzac has been occupied from prehistoric times and in the 18th and 19th centuries became a very important commercial and cultural route, with an active port feeding the interior of the region.

La Poste Mews is ideally situated directly on the tow path of the River Dordogne and has a mooring at the bottom of the garden. The door from the kitchen leads out on to the patio garden and down to the fenced pool, overlooking the river. From the patio you can enjoy the stunning views of the river and the surrounding landscape, all whilst dining Alfresco and enjoying a glass of superb local wine.

The house, which has been carefully restored, is arranged over three floors and has the added flexibility of being able to close off the top floor for smaller parties. It has been described as being ' Really comfortable accommodation that doesn't feel like rental accommodation'. The ground floor has a large, open planned living area, complete with good WiFi, satellite TV, DVD player and stereo system. The living area leads into the fully equipped kitchen with cooker, hob, two fridges, a freezer, a dishwasher and a microwave. The utility room off the kitchen has a washing machine and a downstairs toilet.

With clean, bright, cheerfully co-ordinated and very comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, the second floor has 2 twin bedrooms, a main bathroom and a double room with a shower en-suite. On the top floor, the impressively large master bedroom with its fabulous beams, has 2 double beds (or a 3m wide king size bed), an en-suite retro bath, twin wash basins and an amazing view across the river.

La Poste Mews itself is very roomy, it is cool during the hot weather and has ample parking space. It is well maintained and offers an excellent standard of accommodation for families, groups or couples. It is the perfect base for visiting other parts of the region whilst enjoying the fact that Mauzac itself is a little tucked away and not as touristy as many other parts of The Dordogne.

" We enjoyed a lovely, chilling week in this charming location...literally on the banks of the Dordogne!

La Poste Mews is a fully modernised mews house with accommodation over 3 floors...plenty of opportunities to find your own space to relax, indoors or outside...the stunning master bedroom/ensuite was fab! And the added bonus of Jon and Sonya, the lovely neighbours, being around if you needed any advice or queries answered, made the holiday even more relaxing and fulfilling.
La Poste Mews/Mauzac (make sure you visit the Banana Bar, in the centre of the village!) is the ideal base to explore the area...lovely villages, each with bars, restaurants, walks etc are all within a 15-20 minute drive...and the traffic is non-existent most of the time! And Bergerac is well worth an afternoon/evening to stroll around, shop and then find a lovely restaurant.
Travel stuff....ideally fly into Bergerac...small airport, so little hassle getting through...and only 45 minutes from Mauzac; use Buggs Car Hire...next to terminal, excellent service and good rates. We will certainly be going back soon!"

We'll definitely go back!

" Really comfortable accommodation that doesn't feel like rental accommodation.

Lots of space inside and cool in hot weather. No problems while we were there with sleeping under roof in a fabulous bedroom suite. Used fans but not always. All rooms good and well equipped. Kitchen has doors which open onto terrace with large table and then into a smallish shared garden ( as you would expect in a village) that goes down to the river (and can swim in the river too). Can see river from kitchen. Also utility room which was useful. Shared pool to one side out of view but we used it when we wanted to and rarely had to share it. Easy parking. Neighbouring rental is right beside our one but this did not cause us any problems. Good wifi.  Great base for surrounding area, good local market. Best meals in La P'tote Factory in St Alvere and Restaurant de L'Abbaye in Cardouin. Lovely helpful hosts that were there when you needed advice"

As in photos/description; very comfortable and well equipped, great location for visiting area and really helpful hosts.
