La Poste Mews is a charming, family friendly house, located in the centre of the quiet village of Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of the Dordogne. The village of Mauzac is full of character and history and its past is closely entwined with that of the River Dordogne, which flows through the heart of the village. Mauzac has been occupied from prehistoric times and in the 18th and 19th centuries became a very important commercial and cultural route, with an active port feeding the interior of the region.
La Poste Mews is ideally situated directly on the tow path of the River Dordogne and has a mooring at the bottom of the garden. The door from the kitchen leads out on to the patio garden and down to the fenced pool, overlooking the river. From the patio you can enjoy the stunning views of the river and the surrounding landscape, all whilst dining Alfresco and enjoying a glass of superb local wine.
The house, which has been carefully restored, is arranged over three floors and has the added flexibility of being able to close off the top floor for smaller parties. It has been described as being ' Really comfortable accommodation that doesn't feel like rental accommodation'. The ground floor has a large, open planned living area, complete with good WiFi, satellite TV, DVD player and stereo system. The living area leads into the fully equipped kitchen with cooker, hob, two fridges, a freezer, a dishwasher and a microwave. The utility room off the kitchen has a washing machine and a downstairs toilet.
With clean, bright, cheerfully co-ordinated and very comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, the second floor has 2 twin bedrooms, a main bathroom and a double room with a shower en-suite. On the top floor, the impressively large master bedroom with its fabulous beams, has 2 double beds (or a 3m wide king size bed), an en-suite retro bath, twin wash basins and an amazing view across the river.
La Poste Mews itself is very roomy, it is cool during the hot weather and has ample parking space. It is well maintained and offers an excellent standard of accommodation for families, groups or couples. It is the perfect base for visiting other parts of the region whilst enjoying the fact that Mauzac itself is a little tucked away and not as touristy as many other parts of The Dordogne.
